Luck is a Lady

Luck is a lady
Illusive and fair
Her touch is capricious
Her presence, fine air

game-casino-grand-roulette-flash2She wafts by the hopeful,
the deserving, the small
Selecting but few
She is courted by all

She walks with a whisper
and touches with grace
You win or you lose
By the look on her face

Floating just out of reach
Smiling over her shoulder
Her eyes beckoning
Those daring to hold her

You’ll chase her forever
You’ll work and you’ll pray
When you think that you have her
She’ll drift lightly away
